That is the saddest news. Thanks to all the brave people who have been involved. You’ll always be my heroes.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.

  2. Pablo says:

Very sorry to hear that. It was such a beautiful way of a peaceful protest.

Plus its terrible timing not only for Dakta Green but for the fact that the Global Commission on Drug Policy (incl. former UN secretary general Kofi Annan) just released a 10 year study – on june 2nd – a new report encouraging world governments to legalize MJ…

Good luck on all the future NORML endeavours, it won’t take long for the logical thing to happen, all the best to you guys.

  4. nene says:

Hi i visited the other day and was amazed the people there ranged from 18 to over 50. I dont drink and dont like pubs or drunk in your face people. and will not walk into a pub without watching over my shoulder. but when i walked into the daktory i felt at ease and everyone was just so happy its a shame this place is closed now it gives our teens somewhere safe to smoke and have a few games of pool. my hat go’s off to the people behind this and hope you open more over the country there is a big need for more places like this than pubs there is a old saying

    Man made alcohol
    God made dope
    who do you trust

  5. Mohammed says:

You are a stupid stoners! hahahah bye bye. You should get a job now you have no drugs to smoke.

  6. BackToTheStoneAge says:

So sad….New Zealand taking another Step backwards.

    Dakta Green is a Hero!!!

  7. Kim says:

I’m so sad to hear this – the daktory was the best place to just chill out! I will continue to buy MJ for medical reasons. At least it felt like the daktory was a more responsible way to buy; the closure means continued funding of gangs and irresponsible growers – this doesn’t help NZ’s war on drugs but only makes it worse. I still can’t believe how short sighted people can be?

  8. Dakta Ms SaS says:

hey there i used to work along side dakta green and this was one of the best thing in my life .. opening up the daktory it was a safe place for everyone of 18 plus the be instead in on the streets it was place for people to get to know each other we would have movie nights where we would all as members get together and watch movies..this place was a legend and you know what they say a legend must still go on..well done to DAKTA GREEN!!! 4.20 boss …puff puff
    dakta ms sas

  9. MJ says:

Awewww man!!! I LITERALLY just found out about you today, and you’ve closed for out of towners! :(

  10. SH says:

@Nigerian and @Mohammad you two are idiots Mohammad do you realize you’re telling some very well educated people in high up places to get a job? you obviously have never been there so shut the fuck up, Nigerian take you’re black nigger ass goat eating cow shit hut living ass back to you’re poor pathetic asshole of a country ok bye

  11. Benjamin says:

Nice work.. now many of the people who did buy from the daktory will by from the gangs instead, funding there criminal activities.

legalize weed, take away a big chunk of gang funds.

  12. aGanjaFriend says:

The hipocracy of the government never fails to shock me! The Daktory was a friendly, cheerful place. I never saw any sketchy scenarios there, just people who were all there for the same reasons, to enjoy the cannabis culture and to aid progression towards untying the knots that are the unjust and retarded drug laws of the New Zealand Government.

This is a step back for everyone, the innocent user, the police and the tax payer. Instead of ending the costly cycle of unneccesary arrests and busts for something as innocent as cannabis, things will only escalate now…

This is bullsh*t, legalize weed and FREE DAKTA!

  13. kev says:

good on ya Dakta for trying to make NZ a free country.

  14. Anna says:

Thank goodness. Hope this guy gets jail time, make an example of him. you can’t just go flaunting your breakage of the law and then have a cry about it when you get consequences, whether or not its a just law or not

  15. Dakta dash says:

To all the people leaving comments like “Anna- Thank goodness. Hope this guy gets jail time, make an example of him. you can’t just go flaunting your breakage of the law and then have a cry about it when you get consequences, whether or not its a just law or not” should go get fucked coz she sounds like a dumb bitch and why would you bother coming on here just to criticise the daktory? The daktory was the best thing that happend to nz , lets get it back up and running!!!!

  16. steady says:

yeah this is super sad i only just found out about this place recently and have really enjoyed having a nice place to chill and buy ethical MJ. I would like to find another ethical source as I don’t like buying from gangs. Anyone have any ideas???

  17. Kia ora koutou

Knowing Dakta Green and his crew, I’m sure the Daktory is down but not out. NORML and other drug law reform groups are putting a lot of effort into making drug policy a big issue for this year’s election, and it’s great to hear the Daktory will continue to be a base for this work. You want to free the weed? Join NORML, and keep going to the Daktory to get involved!

Also, there’s no reason groups of people can’t follow the Daktory’s example and carry out their own peaceful resistence by opening responsible cannabis dispensaries. This was how the famous Amsterdam cannabis cafes came about – as Green puts it “live like it’s legal!”

  18. Anna says:

You call us closed minded for not supporting Marijuana reform laws, but you instantly brand anyone who disagrees a ‘dumb bitch’. Does that not seem more than a little hypocritical to you? You’re just as bad as us that don’t want Marijuana to become legal – you refuse to consider the oppositions arguments an opinions and reasons, you just throw vitriolic crap at them because they think something different. If we’re taking a giant step backwards, you’re all right in step with us.

  20. Mohammed says:

Well put Anna. I am not happy for my hard-earned tax money to be paying for other peoples self-induced schizophrenia. Give it 10 years and the psych wards will be full of stoners raving about the good old times at the daktory when they could hide away from the Police and smoke drugs while the rest of the world worked. Heres a question for all the stoners – if cannabis was legal what would stop an airline pilot from getting toasted off his tits before flying you and your family – probably into the ground at 200 miles an hour. I support Nigerian. I am sory for you Nigerian because these racist bigots from the Daktory see foreigners like you and me as threat. I agree send the greedy old man to jail. I think more of us smart people should make comment on these pages and take over the site!! Also the gangs will always be here – drugs legal or not – just look at the loser who tries to make money with his cel number above to sell drugs – where there is a $ there is a seller – patch or no patch.

  21. Nick says:

Heres a question for all the stoners – if cannabis was legal what would stop an airline pilot from getting toasted off his tits before flying you and your family – probably into the ground at 200 miles an hour.

    Stoners Answer:
The pilots brain? The same thing that stops him from getting pissed and flying.

    Prohibition doesn’t work.
    I’m smoking Cannabis right now.

  22. Mohammed says:

Oh yes stoner Nick – nothing to do with the fact it is illegal and pilot could lose his job if he smoke drug and fly. Come down out of your haze and open your eyes to real life – lifes actually pretty good if you don’t run away and hide under your bed and smoke drugs. Be a man and stand on your own feet. Whats your job Nick? Do you actually work or do you bludge off the tax-payers like the rest of stonerdom – please be honest!

  23. brent says:

i wonder if i’m the only one from texas to visit the daktory. it was a spiritual moment. i HATE that i may not relive that moment in the future. it was a wonderful place and i feel that even though i spent only an hour in peaceful bliss, my life is somewhat changed. thank you Jazz.. thank you dakta green.. i will never forget the moment i was in near heaven. LONG LIVE THE DAKTA!!!!!!!!!!!

  24. notorious nish says:

respest to daktory n dakta green

  25. notorious nish says:

PS it was a good place for ppl to cme n relax n smoke weed….jst like ppl hu like goin to pubs after wrk to hav a drink and daktory wud hav definatly helpd crime go dwn in its own way by nt funding the drug lords in auckland n use dat money for other gang activites

  26. Budz says:

Why are you all giving Mohammed such a hard time. I agree with him. It is surprising how many cannabis users get on this site and say “oh you are dumb” and don’t have the intelligence to actually put forward any arguments to support their side of the debate. I guess they were probably skipping class and smoking drugs instead of actually going to school and learning about how educated people communicate and hold a debate that actually argues the topic. Play the ball and not the man! Respect da five-o. Budz out

  27. mohammed is a moron says:

read my name stupid rebutle for a stupid point put across in argument against it .

  29. paulie says:

I love it how mohammed thinks stoners dont work. So very wrong, I earn well over 100k and love smoking pot.

  30. Stoner Anna says:

Prohibition laws are senseless and outdated.

Gutted ‘cos that guy with the phone number won’t txt me back.

    Love you fellow stoneys xx

  31. Jeremy the 18yo (full time employed) dope smoker says:

Drug test dole bludgers & stop paying them to sit at home and smoke up! legalise weed…it cannot kill you..just your motivation! everyone just needs to work together and look at the big picture..
Smoke small…its not about looking cool, but looking into yourself. Marijuana is a spiritual thing and should not be abused….educate the young. Alcohol really is worse…..

  32. 19 Year Old Student Employed and Paying His Own Way says:

Ok. I’ve been to the daktory quite a bit, to be honest i should have become a member while there was the dispensary because the door charge each time mean that I paid more.

Aside from that there are two types of dope smokers. Firstly those who have jobs and are going somewhere with their life and that do not expect the government to sort everything for them

Secondly there are those like AKL SESHNZ (His facebook ID), I think his name is dakta worzal or some shit.

He is an idiot and he is also the reason why dak is still illegal. He was proud to post on his facebook that he told his WINZ (obviously the dickhead is unemployed) manager that he would prefer not to work and lose $50 rather than work 35 hours a week. This is so the faggot can just sit around all day and smoke he.

People like him are the reason we cant have it even decriminalised.

If you read this AKL SESHNZ I hope it makes an effect because YOU are the reason WE cannot freely toke up.

    So FUCK YOU

  33. 22 y/o full time employeed says:

Completely agree with the previous comment.
Also what everyone keeps mentioning about alcohol is true, alcohol seems so much worse so why are people so against weed?

  34. Smoker passing thru says:

There will always be ignorance on both sides of this argument. Its a shame that the people yelling the loudest are most commonly the ones who know the least.

Yes it is illegal. But is this really the reason that people are so anti? Do these anti-marijuana people reprimand themselves when they dont stop at stop signs or speed? Are they as harsh on themselves as they are those who smoke illegally? If they throw a sickie are they as quick to “stand on their own two feet” and admit to theft from their employers or breaking a contract they signed – both of which are illegal?

    Just a thought

  35. Brendon says:

Hey guys, I live in tasmania, and I have been talking to my house mates about this.

We are totaly with everybody who supports the Daktory.

I find it rather ironic that the law allows pubs and bottle shop to be open late at night (especially on weekends) but wont allow something that is VERY VERY safe to be used responsibly, even in a private residence.

I will continue to support making weed legal world wide as I am a daily smoker who enjoys chilling out with a damn good joint.

One more thing: In America, on their 5 dollar bills etc, it’s says, “In God We Trust” that’s rather ironic, purely based on the fact that if “God” did create the earth and everything in it such as animals etc herbs (weed) etc…. Yet they are one of the many countries trying to get rid of weed all together.

Funny that, 1/3 of the Earth is covered by weed. Are the police gonna start locking up parts of the earth?
