Closeup TV 1

Tonight, Close up on TV1 had an article on Mary Jane, the Cannabus. They had based the story around it being following her trip up to Waitangi, but ended up spending most of the time showing every bad clip they could about the trip, and of ‘Dacktar’ Green! Yes, that’s right, they didn’t even bother checking to see how to spell it.

Though there is the presence of a balanced article, it seems to lack any any footage of support for the cause, other than members of The Daktory talking to the camera.

For those of you who haven’t read the text article, or seen the poor photography to go with, you can check it out here.

For those of you who want to check out the video, you can get that here.

I wrote a complaint to TVNZ, NOT HAPPY AT ALL.

That was disgusting. Did you see that short fat guy in the early part of the segment trying to “bully” the activists? How is that acceptable in society? Some people are behaving differently, so it’s okay to bully or threaten them. “I’ll make three phone calls you’ll get out of town” that hard-talking bullshit artist. You can tell he was bullied as a child and craves the feeling of power. The big dude from the daktory (sorry don’t know his name) must have been on his hardest reigns to not have turned around and chinned that fat little bitch. And the cameras just roll, it’s a circus for TVNZ.

If only these fucking closed-mind dipshits would open their goddamn eyes for the first time. Gah! Sorry, but this sort of hypocritical bullshit makes me angry. Fuckers!

Okay, I did my letter of complaint here. I hope everyone will do the same. I’ve copied and pasted what I wrote, which makes a clear case.

The online form for complaints is here:

    THE GUIDELINES THAT WERE BREACHED:

    Broadcasting Act 1989 section B:
The maintenance of law and order

    Broadcasting Act 1989 section D:
The principle that when controversial issues of public importance are discussed, reasonable efforts are made, or reasonable opportunities are given, to present significant points of view, either in the same programme or in other programmes within the period of current interest

    MY LETTER OF COMPLAINT:

    Broadcasting Act 1989 section D:
A controversial issue of public importance (the campaign for decriminalization of cannabis results in many arrests every month) was shown in a purely negative light. There was no instance of a reflection of a positive viewpoint which is in fact the popular public viewpoint at this time, which is critical to the aforementioned campaign. This documentary was delivered in a broadcast purporting to be of unbiased “news-reporting” nature. I believe this serves to undermine democracy by suggesting to the public that their own viewpoints are unpopular. It is unjust to allow careless television broadcasts such as this to manipulate public opinion. I cannot stress enough how much damage this has done.

    Broadcasting Act 1989 section B:
The maintenance of law and order was ignored during the broadcast as you can clearly see the programmers’ support of a hostile, aggressive man making threats to the health and safety of the activists. This includes aggressive, threatening language, both verbal and non-verbal.
The inclusion of footage, inaction and non-commentary of the programmers clearly shows the support of pretext to violence towards the activists. It is a form of bullying, and the message being shown is inarguably that it is okay to bully those who are behaving differently. I question whether this is legal, but I do not question whether this is ethical and humane.
As the BSA is our only representation of justice and moderation of the messages being broadcast to our country, I insist that you take action to the fullest extent of the law and your capabilities.

  4. Haha oh- oh my god, I bet if that was john campbell he’s put forward a fair story, all mark is doing is appealing to his supportive nationalistic demographic, the 50s conservative types, cos hes near the end of his career i suppose.

As for the fat gun toting baldy bubblehead he’s just another slight bump in the otherwise smooth road of progress, so I wouldn’t worry about him, what go around come around, round and around…..

    Legalise!

    :)

Yes I think that govt. TV is just pushing their propaganda… using a bit of ridicule & scarcasm. But on the road there are always a few bumps.. the trick is to keep on going. Viva Dakta & Mary Jane.. Kiaora.. “praises in the name of the most HIGH”

  6. Herp says:
