Closeup TV 1
Posted on February 9th, 2010 by Dakta Green | Filed under Armistice Tour, Events, Featured, Information, News, The Daktory. 8 Comments »

Tonight, Close up on TV1 had an article on Mary Jane, the Cannabus. They had based the story around it being following her trip up to Waitangi, but ended up spending most of the time showing every bad clip they could about the trip, and of ‘Dacktar’ Green! Yes, that’s right, they didn’t even bother checking to see how to spell it.
Though there is the presence of a balanced article, it seems to lack any any footage of support for the cause, other than members of The Daktory talking to the camera.
For those of you who haven’t read the text article, or seen the poor photography to go with, you can check it out here.
For those of you who want to check out the video, you can get that here.

Posted on September 21st, 2009 by Cam Wright (Dakta Bourbon) | Filed under Events, Information, News. 1 Comment »
Tonight at 7.30pm on TV3’s 60 minutes, there is an article titled ‘Ganja Granny’. Awesomely enough, it appears to be the headline story, and is advertised on TV3’s Homepage.
Taken from http://www.3news.co.nz/Ganja-Granny/tabid/755/articleID/121563/cat/923/Default.aspx
She’s 71-years-old and looks like everyone’s perfect grandmother. But she’s been found guilty of drug dealing – masterminding a criminal operation.
Did the police get it right? And if so, what made this otherwise blameless grandmother break the law?
60 Minutes reporter Karen McCarthy investigates.

Cannabis to go on Trial

Cannabis to go on trial
After more than thirty years since enactment, the Misuse of Drugs Act 1975 will face a major challenge when the well known cannabis dactivist, Dakta Green, puts cannabis on trial.
“For the first time since the Misuse of Drugs Act 1975 came into force, cannabis will be subjected to the scrutiny of the court.
My stay of proceedings application will be based on my interpretation of section 9 of the New Zealand Bill of Rights Act 1990.9. Right not to be subjected to torture or cruel treatment
Everyone has the right not to be subjected to torture or to cruel, degrading, or disproportionately severe treatment or punishment.
I read this section as follows: Everyone has the right not to be subjected to disproportionately severe treatment or punishment.
My argument has two main thrusts. Read the rest of this entry »

The Green Challenge
Posted on August 21st, 2009 by Dakta Green | Filed under Events, Information. No Comments »
Welcome to the Green Challenge.
It was a late Saturday night at The Daktory. We were staying up to watch the All Blacks play South Africa due to start at 3am on Sky on The Daktory big screen.
A mixture of old and new members were gathering around the Board table for a pre game sesh. (Prior to the mid game sesh and the after game sesh. Lol)A recently turned 18 new member was enjoying the activities when she suddenly stopped what she was doing. She then looked directly at Dakta Green and with the confidence of youth bluntly stated, “I could smoke you under the table.”
Those of you that know me could quite properly surmise I was a little amused.
During the last two years I have travelled on Maryjane, our Cannabus, throughout the length and breadth of New Zealand. Together we have visited communities from Cape Reinga in the north to Bluff in the south and all the towns and cities in between. I have smoked with more people in more places than anybody in New Zealand history. And in every place there is always someone that thinks they can ‘blow’ Dakta Green away. So far they have failed.
But this young woman was not to be put off. She really thinks she can do it. I say, “Good luck.”
During the following couple of days, The Daktory was abuzz with talk about this possible challenge.
Today I confirm the challenge has been made and accepted. Read the rest of this entry »

Medicinal Cannabis Debate

Submission to New Zealand Members of Parliament.
29 June 2009
Medicinal Cannabis Bill put to historic First Vote this week
Green Party co-leader Metiria Turei’s private member’s Misuse of Drugs (Medicinal Cannabis) Amendment Bill will be put to a first vote on Member’s Day this Wednesday 1st July 2009.
New Zealand is lagging behind other developed and affluent nations who have already put forth medical cannabis laws.
NORML calls upon all Members of Parliament to put aside politics, show compassion and support this Bill for it’s First Reading. Let the issue go to select committee so the people of New Zealand can have a say.
