Robbie Williams has described cannabis as a “lovely drug”, sparking fury among campaigners.
The singer, who has battled addiction and depression, admitted the drug made his weight balloon and affected his mental wellbeing.
But he added: “Weed, it’s such a lovely drug. It is such a lovely drug. But it doesn’t mix well with me at all.
“It doesn’t take much to trigger – I mean, I’ll get psychosis from having this cup of tea! Seriously. The caffeine in that’s enough “But it’s just a shame about weed, because I did love it.” Read the rest of this entry »

Cannabis users different from ‘true drug cheats’

A Christchurch sports lawyer has questioned whether sports people using cannabis should be treated with the same severity as “true drug cheats” who take performance enhancing or masking drugs.
Ian Hunt represented Canterbury rugby league player Vince Whare, who has been banned for 10 years by the Sports Tribunal of New Zealand for a third cannabis offence.
The World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) code requires third-time doping offenders to be suspended for life although the ban can be reduced to a minimum of eight years. It does not draw a clear distinction in terms of penalties for recreational drugs like cannabis and sanctions for taking performance-enhancing substances. Read the rest of this entry »

A Rancho Cordova-based insurer Monday launched what it calls the first nationally available insurance coverage designed specifically for the medical marijuana industry.
Only 14 states allow use of medical marijuana today, but Statewide Insurance Services is nonetheless offering coverage in all 50 states.
“Given the growth in the industry, I think it’s only a matter of time” before other states allow medical marijuana, said Mike Aberle, a commercial insurance agent with the local firm and national director of its Medical Marijuana Specialty Division.
He added: “Now that we can offer (services) in all 50 states, we can start the minute they go legal, without delay.” Read the rest of this entry »

Complain to the Broadcasting Standards Authority
Posted on February 10th, 2010 by Cam Wright (Dakta Bourbon) | Filed under Armistice Tour, Information, Legalization, Misc, The Daktory. 3 Comments »
After the disgracefully one sided story that was shown on Tv1’s Close Up last night, we are encouraging everyone to send letters of complaint to the Broadcasting Standards Authority.
Considering the introductory segment of the article shows it as “Reefer Madness,” there is clearly going to be some classic Government/Media cover up involved.
Watch the story, or read the article for yourself if you haven’t already and judge it for yourself. We also have the original post on our site, with some comments.
Thanks to Hybrid for the link and excerpts.

There was a second ad that was also rejected, that makes an example of President Obama.

New Film Ignites Debate on Ratings Policy
Posted on December 27th, 2009 by Cam Wright (Dakta Bourbon) | Filed under Blog, Misc. No Comments »

Melinda Sue Gordon/Universal PicturesLOS ANGELES — The romantic comedy “It’s Complicated” arrived at the multiplex on Friday complete with an R rating, ranking it in the same category as “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” and “Basic Instinct” in the eyes of the Motion Picture Association of America.
But there is no violence in “It’s Complicated,” and the bedroom scenes are decidedly tame by contemporary standards. Instead, the R rating — which experts say could limit the box-office potential of the Universal Pictures film — comes largely from a sequence in which Steve Martin and Meryl Streep smoke marijuana.
