LA City Attorney, Carmen “Nuch” Trutanich, has been all over the media trying to convince Los Angeles that a pesticide used to kill Mexican fire ants is evidence that medical cannabis provided by dispensaries is poisonous and supporting Mexican drug cartels. Having abandoned the flawed interpretation of the California Supreme Court’s decision in People v. Mentch, Mr. Trutanich and LA County District Attorney Steve Cooley have now latched onto toxic reefer as their latest justification for shuttering LA’s pot shops.
According to Trutanich, three samples of medical marijuana from “controlled buys” by undercover LAPD were tested by an FDA laboratory. On these samples, Mr Trutanich said the lab found high concentrations of an insecticide used to kill fire ants in Mexico. We have been saying it for a while now, but this video helps explain why. Legalisation and taxation of Marijuana will help with the economy problems around the world, even though New Zealand is now technically out of the recession. With a 26% increase over the past year of Cannabis use in NZ, the time is right for this to work for all parties.
The only argument against legalisation, that is given in the video, is that of health risks. It would be nice to see some research to see if it will have any impact on the health service at all, considering the anti-carsenogenic properties of Marijuana, could be the stepping stones to curing various kinds of cancer. The example of current things that are increasing the stress on the system, is tobacco, which can only be related to Marijuana as being a plant you can smoke… Read the rest of this entry »

from our friends at http://blog.norml.org/2009/10/11/weed-and-coffee/
I don’t drink coffee. But, the appeal of cannabis and coffee is abundantly clear from Amsterdam to Oaksterdam.
NORML supporters, professional comedians and apparent wake-n-bakers Rob Cantrell and Arj Barker sing the praises of one of the world’s most beloved, but largely undisclosed ‘drug’ combination, in their new high-definition video ‘Coffee and Weed!‘ [Warning: adult language and imagery is employed]:
Notice some of the interesting cameos from notable Brooklynites! This song is from Rob’s new album ‘Stay on the grass!‘

Though we wish there was more local content with regards to legalization, the US is full of various articles from it’s many news station. Here is another article out of the US, this time from Fox, amazingly enough, showing an internet view with NORML’s Paul Armentano.
