The Green Challenge

Welcome to the Green Challenge.
It was a late Saturday night at The Daktory. We were staying up to watch the All Blacks play South Africa due to start at 3am on Sky on The Daktory big screen.
A mixture of old and new members were gathering around the Board table for a pre game sesh. (Prior to the mid game sesh and the after game sesh. Lol)A recently turned 18 new member was enjoying the activities when she suddenly stopped what she was doing. She then looked directly at Dakta Green and with the confidence of youth bluntly stated, “I could smoke you under the table.”
Those of you that know me could quite properly surmise I was a little amused.
During the last two years I have travelled on Maryjane, our Cannabus, throughout the length and breadth of New Zealand. Together we have visited communities from Cape Reinga in the north to Bluff in the south and all the towns and cities in between. I have smoked with more people in more places than anybody in New Zealand history. And in every place there is always someone that thinks they can ‘blow’ Dakta Green away. So far they have failed.
But this young woman was not to be put off. She really thinks she can do it. I say, “Good luck.”
During the following couple of days, The Daktory was abuzz with talk about this possible challenge.
Today I confirm the challenge has been made and accepted. Read the rest of this entry »

Maybe, Cannabis is a performance enhancing drug after all…
Taken from http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19679602
The effects of cannabis on lung function remain unclear and may be different to tobacco. We compared the associations between use of these substances and lung function in a population-based cohort (n=1037).
Cannabis and tobacco use were reported at ages 18, 21, 26, and 32 years. Spirometry, plethysmography, and carbon monoxide transfer factor were measured at age 32. Associations between lung function and exposure to each substance were adjusted for exposure to the other substance. Cumulative cannabis use was associated with higher forced vital capacity, total lung capacity, functional residual capacity, and residual volume. Read the rest of this entry »

Last night, I was listening to 3 News on the way home from work, and was glad to hear they were running an article on California, where Medicinal Maijuana is legal. This article is currently on TV3′s ‘Most Commented’ section, showing this is a hot topic for Kiwi’s

I would love to embed the video, but your going to have to go to that bit of extra effort and click this link to watch it; http://www.3news.co.nz/Pot-tax-California-considers-legalising-taxing-marijuana-sales/tabid/313/articleID/115000/cat/772/Default.aspxA drug deal plays out, California-style: A conservatively dressed courier drives a company-leased car to an apartment on a weekday afternoon. Erick Alvaro hands over a white paper bag to his 58-year-old customer, who inspects the bag to ensure that everything he ordered over the phone is there.
An eighth-ounce of organic marijuana buds for treating his seasonal allergies? Check. An eighth of a different pot strain for insomnia? Check. THC-infused lozenges and tea bags? Check and check, with a free herb-laced cookie thrown in as a thank-you gift. Read the rest of this entry »
